{"id":664,"date":"2023-03-07T13:10:21","date_gmt":"2023-03-07T21:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jick.ca\/?p=664"},"modified":"2024-01-28T17:19:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T01:19:29","slug":"going","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jick.ca\/?p=664","title":{"rendered":"Going"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Walking this trail beside the stream<br \/>\namong the ferns and evergreens<br \/>\nI smell the skunky stink of bog<br \/>\nand spice of rotting cedar log.<br \/>\nFamiliarity\u2019s embrace<br \/>\nmakes this path a soothing place<br \/>\nbut longing for discovery<br \/>\nof unknown vistas tugs at me.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s only so far I can hike,<br \/>\nso now I ride upon my bike<br \/>\nalong this little winding strip<br \/>\nof broken asphalt to the ship<br \/>\nthat waits to carry me away<br \/>\nto other shores and other days.<br \/>\nBut still I yearn for greater scale,<br \/>\nimpatient with the speed of sail.<\/p>\n<p>And so I wait to board a plane<br \/>\nand fly above the clouds so fast<br \/>\nand far and high that I can gain<br \/>\nno knowledge of what trickles past<br \/>\nbelow me, or of how the place<br \/>\nI go connects to where I\u2019ve been.<br \/>\nWill those who live there know my face<br \/>\nif someday I should come again?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(<em>7 March 2023<\/em>)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Walking this trail beside the stream among the ferns and evergreens I smell the skunky stink of bog and spice of rotting cedar log.
