I hate thee for the slaughtered leaves,
\nsweet green symbols of Spring and Summer,
\nnow brown and dead upon my lawn and drive.<\/p>\n
I hate thee for the chilly nights
\nthat make me break my own Green oaths
\nand burn sequestered carbon to survive
\nand don the altered fur of other beasts
\nto replace the pelts we lost to evolution.<\/p>\n
I hate the way you celebrate belief
\nin supernatural nonsense:
\nghosts, goblins and demons galore.<\/p>\n
I hate thee for the darkness
\nnow descending on the world:
\nthe sun sinks deeper every day.<\/p>\n
I\u2019d sooner live on Luna, where
\nwe\u2019d have to burrow underground
\nand make our own air
\nbut energy is free
\nand there is no snow.<\/p>\n
